How to prepare your home for Fall

HOW TO PREPARE YOUR HOME FOR FALL
INSIDE THE HOUSE
- Check the fireplace for damage and build-up, have the chimney cleaned
- Make sure you have enough firewood for the season
- Service HVAC
- Check smoke and CO2 alarms, replace batteries if needed
- Inspect Fire Extinguisher and make sure it is current and full
- Reverse your ceiling fans so they circulate the warm air
- Change your air filters
- Seal drafts around windows and doors
OUTSIDE THE HOUSE
- Clear out gutters and downspouts
- Check weather stripping around doors and windows and replace if needed
- Check the roof and repair any shingles that are loose
- Remove tree limbs that may be hanging over the house
- Disconnect hoses and store them away
- Drain and turn the sprinkler system off
- Repair paint that is peeling to avoid further damage thru the winter
- Cover A/C unit and/or remove units from windows
- Repair or replace any cracks in the driveway or on sidewalks
- Winterize summer tools and store away for the season
- Inspect winter tools and make them accessible
